My Approach
Welcome! I'm Morgan Rysdon.
An Alexander Technique teacher, speaker + bona fide optimist dedicated to helping you become more comfortable in your (mind +) body!
Born and raised in the Midwest, I've always loved people! All kinds of people. And when I get to help them? Even better!
I share my story with you even if it isn't the "happiest" one; as I'm a living example of how perseverance, dedication and a commitment to self-work can heal, transform and change you.
The first time I experienced a major life-changing event I was 8 years old—I was molested. This led me to be protective, cautious and anxious.
A few years later (3 days after my 15th birthday, to be exact) my only brother died at the age of 17. And, because curious minds always ask, he died very suddenly of meningitis—within 8 short hours. This event was even more shocking and traumatic than the last and it left me feeling very angry and depressed.
I share these events with you, not for dramatic effect, but because they are both a part of who I am and what have shaped me. They impacted me in significant ways, not just emotionally, but mentally and—even more so—physically.
My saving grace was the changes I found possible through learning the Alexander Technique. Never before had I experienced so much comfort, confidence, and stability in my life—and all of this was possible because of my interest in self-improving and CHANGING.
Now years later, I am a nationally certified Alexander Technique teacher in Atlanta helping people, like you, change for the better. Whether coming to me for better posture, to get rid of pain, or learning skills for stress reduction—my aim is, always, to teach you skills that you can use (regardless of where you are or who you're with) to realize change for the better.
We are all unique—and not without our own hang ups and limitations—but regardless of these things we have the potential to change if given the right education. When you teach someone the skills they need to realize these things you make room for new possibilities. It is my goal to help you find what things you can change.
So if you are like me...
- You don't like waiting around for "it" to get better—or someone else to "fix it"
- You want to feel good (+ confident!) as often as possible—even as you age
- You don't want to work harder than you need to, more than you need to
- You believe in the old saying "You can't take care of anyone, if you haven't already taken care of yourself"
Then reach out, connect with me + share what you'd most like to change. I'm here to help you discover all the possibilities for change that are within arms reach. With the right education and applicable tools you can see change(s) quickly!
And, because some people care about the this stuff too:
Teaching highlights: monthly introductory classes, group workshops, private one-on-one lessons, and a year-round weekly Parkinson's class as a part of the Wellness Program at the JCC in association with NYU Langone's Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Center.
Professional career highlights: my BA in Theatre from Illinois State University, my certification through the American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT) in New York City, a certification through the National Parkinson's Foundation’s Allied Team Training Program (ATTP), serving as the Chairperson for the Board of the American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT) and holding a seat on the American Society for Alexander Teachers Membership Committee (AmSAT).
Personal highlights: vegetarian, optimist, movement enthusiast (I like yoga, swimming and have recently taken up running), dog-lover, wife, mother of 2 baby girls, and daughter of 2 eccentric parents. Oh, and I love to bake and share my goodies!
"Morgan's knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm make this ongoing journey of discovery possible."
